In May 2015 I gave birth to a beautiful wee girl, Dayna. She was not my child, I carried her for 8 months, 3 weeks and 1 day – I carried her for a friend of mine who could not have a baby herself. Seeing the pure joy her parents had, looking into her sweet little face is something I will always treasure. It was the most wonderful feeling I have ever had – how I wished to feel that everyday, imagine if I could have a business that gave!
But I’m just a graphic designer running a boutique studio, I can’t simply work for free. I need a salary, I have a family and mortgage, I live in Auckland (need I say more!) I can’t do it now – I will one day, I’ll get out there, I’ll help when I can.
Along came Leon Jay, entrepreneur and author of Create, Automate and Accelerate. He said one line that changed EVERYTHING…. “Use your business to change the world” A little tickle started at the back of my brain, could I use my business to give, could I start doing it right now? YES!
And so The Be Big Project started – be a bigger person – as Go-To Girl says give, give, get.
